Mailchimp Integration
Send drafts to Mailchimp campaigns for your email marketing.
Overview
The Mailchimp integration creates draft campaigns with your newsletter content. You'll need to select your audience and make any final adjustments before sending.
Setup Instructions
Step 1: Get Your API Key
- Log in to your Mailchimp account
- Go to Account → Extras → API keys
- Click Create A Key
- Copy the API key (it looks like
abc123-us21)
Step 2: Connect in Shipletter
- Go to the Connections tab in your Shipletter dashboard
- Under Email Platform, select Mailchimp
- Paste your API key
- Click Connect Mailchimp
Using the Integration
When you approve a draft in Slack, Shipletter will:
- Create a draft campaign in Mailchimp
- Set the subject line and preview text
- Add your newsletter content
- Send you a link to the campaign
In Mailchimp, you'll need to select your audience, review the design, and send or schedule.
Using an existing template for better styling
By default, Shipletter sends your newsletter as raw HTML. If you prefer your brand’s layout, you can use an existing Mailchimp template so the newsletter is dropped into a section of that template.
- In Mailchimp, create or open a template that has an editable content section (e.g. a block with
mc:edit="body"or similar). - Note the template ID (e.g. from the template URL or Content Studio → Templates).
- In Shipletter, go to Connections → Email Platform → Update your Mailchimp connection.
- Enter the Template ID (the numeric ID) and, if your section isn’t named
body, the Template content section name. - Save. New drafts will use that template and inject the newsletter into the specified section.
Leave Template ID blank to keep using raw HTML.
Note: The API key includes your data center (the part after the dash, like "us21"). Make sure to copy the entire key.
